Graduate Scholar Winners

Meena Amlani
Meena is currently a Faculty member with the Medical Radiography Program at the British Columbia Institute of Technology. She is involved in online and blended course development and delivery. This is the basis for her Doctorate of Health Sciences with Charles Sturt University in Australia.

Angelito F. Balboa
Educator. Born on September 30 in Manila, Philippines to Ofelia Balboa and Rodolfo Balboa Sr. Since he was five years old, he already dreamed of becoming a teacher.

He was raised from a less-privileged family but poverty did not become a hindrance to achieve his burning passion to inspire young minds, instead it became a fuel that helped to ignite his desire to educate people.

He earned his BS in Computer Education at Adamson University, Manila, Philippines where he also worked as a Student Assistant. After finishing his degree in the year 1999, his dream became a reality by becoming a teacher in the Basic Education Department of Manila Central University for one and a half years. There he taught computer subjects.

He continued his teaching profession at Adamson University from June, 2001 – March, 2009 where he worked as college professor in the College of Business Administration. He taught Information Technology and Business Management subjects. During that time, he earned his Master in Business Administration at Adamson University.

After six years of teaching, he had the opportunity to serve as the Chairperson of the Computer Education Department under the College of Business Administration. This is the turning point of his teaching career because aside from the administrative post that was assigned to him, he was also exposed to the design and revision of curricula, linkages with industry, benchmarking with international institutions such as Rice University, University of Houston, University of California and Singapore Management University.

He has also written research papers, some were presented in an International Conference and published in local and international journals. His research paper entitled, The Productivity in Business Education Courses was presented in the Global Academy of Business and Economic Research Conference in Houston, Texas last March, 2008. His research paper entitled, Comparing Filipino and American Task and Relationship Orientations which was co-authored with Prof. Mujtaba Bahaudin was published in The Journal of Applied Management and Entrepreneurship last April, 2009.

He also became active in social community outreach by becoming one of the core members of Vincentian Corporate Social Responsibility, the Community Outreach arm of Adamson University.

He is now the Associate Dean of Conrado Benitez Institute for Business Education at Philippine Women’s University. He also teaches Business Management and Information Technology subjects both in the undergraduate and graduate programs of the Institute. The subjects that he is teaching are: Human Behavior in Business Organization, Entrepreneurship, Principles of Management, Philippine Business Environment, Business Ethics and others. He is also a part-time faculty member at San Beda College, Mendiola where he also teaches subjects like Compensation Management and Organization Development.


Mackenzie Glander-Dolo
Mackenzie Glander-Dolo grew up in West Africa in an expatriate family and worked overseas as an educator, starting programs in Asia, the Middle East, and Africa, as well as the U.S. and Switzerland. She is the director of the nonprofit, Global PlanIt and is currently finishing work on a Ph.D. in Human and Organizational Development at Fielding Graduate University with a focus on Information Systems and Knowledge Organizations.

Jayan Chirayath Kurian
Jayan is pursuing his PhD at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT), Australia. He also teaches in the Division of Business Information Systems, RMIT International University, Vietnam. Before joining RMIT, he worked as a Research Staff at The National University of Singapore (NUS), Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Singapore, and lectured on Information Technology courses at the Modern College of Business and Science (MCBS), Sultanate of Oman. Jayan’s initial experience in the academic field was with Ngee Ann Polytechnic, Singapore as a Visiting Lecturer. He holds several professional certifications from Microsoft, Sun Microsystems, Oracle, CompTIA, and Prosoft. In-addition, he has presented at several international conferences and served as a reviewer and has given invited talks at conferences. He was also one of the recipients for the prestigious eINDIA2008 conference award for his contribution towards the open source community. He holds an Mphil from The University of Nottingham and his research interest is on emerging web technologies.

Ronda Zelezny-Green
Ronda Zelezny-Green is a graduate student in the Master of Arts in Applied Linguistics program with a concentration in foreign language pedagogy at the University of Massachusetts at Boston. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy and Spanish (departmental honors) from Salem College in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Ronda is a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer who has lived on four continents and visited 25 countries. She currently works in higher education providing multicultural education for college students, along with youth leadership workshops for high school women in New England. She also virtually volunteers for international NGOs based in the USA and in Tanzania, focusing on work with global education, technology usage, and cross-cultural communications. She was recently nominated to serve as the Young Alumnae Representative for United Colors of Salem, a minority interest group for alumnae of Salem College.

Prior to now Ronda was an ESL/EFL Educator for four years. Ms. Zelezny-Green has written articles on culture, lifestyles, and current events in the Association for African-American Linguists quarterly newsletter as well as MADA English Journal, the only all-English newspaper in Madagascar. She performs international educational consulting on a freelance basis and specializes in gender, language concerns, ICTs, and the region of Africa. She enjoys reading, writing, swimming, hiking, traveling, and experiencing new cultures.

Her head and her heart are still in Africa.
